Alien: Covenant, Spores are tiny insects

I changed my mind on the fungal spore "motes" in Alien Covenant. This drawing from David, seen in the "Advent" extended scene, is what swayed me. It clearly shows one singular mote breaking away from the swarm and implanting something in the host victim. -

I now think that the spores are tiny insect parasites. The fungus was mutated by the black goo and its reproductive system was weaponized. It's spores were mutated to become the insects, just as Holloway's sperm became the trilobite.

I was also sceptical that actual insects (even alien insects) could be so extremely tiny as to fly, as a group into a human ear hole, such as Ledward’s. Well I was wrong there as well. According to Wikipedia, the smallest insects in the world are indeed a type of tiny wasp called “Fairyflies”, which can be as small as 0.139 mm, with the smallest flying insect being 0.15 mm long. Insanely tiny. So obviously the motes in Alien: Covenant would work as tiny flying insects. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairyfly
