A lot of discussion over this subject has happened on the site, here are a few links that might help you get your answer. If ever you need to find something try the search function up top. :)
From what I understand they eat anything and everything. There is a scene in the Alien novel where Ripley finds a locker that the Xeno broke into, apparently it ingested everything from snack cakes to batteries. O_o

Well i don't know about the Necronom in Alien but the Xenomorphlol in Aliens, is a giant alien bug. So it probably eats other bugs or rotten meat.
The poster was good though!

Or maybe, with them being bio-mechanical, they are more like androids so they don't need to eat?
The poster was good though!

I would say they could probably eat about anything especially pulse rifle rounds

not 'what do xenomorphs eat' I think this is a redundant question
but HOW THEY EAT might be more relevant, and if I was a 'xenomorph' that might not be a fixed form entity, I'd eat like bacteria eat.
And this is what Giger saw in his visions, TOTAL BODILY INGESTION.

Well in Alien 3 one f the prisoners caught xenomorph 'munching' another prisoner and in the canon AVP:R xenomorph ate Mollys dad so they do like human flesh. . .
Map made good point that cats and so on animals (in Aliens there was a hamster in a cage) don't interest them at all.

I'd think they would inherit some of the host species 'tastes'.
For example, a chestburster from NCC would love beer, one from Freeze or Cypher would love BACON or they may just love Waffles as Map said!

So basically its been established that xenomorphs are like trash can sharks they eat whatever they get a hold off. And the taste of a xenomorph varies from creature to creature. Map did indeed make a good observation in the movies i always wondered why the Alien left Jones alive? Why not kill the cat? Thank you for answering my questions.

Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

I always thought they might not eat, that maybe they are born with enough nutrients for their lifespan, which seemed to be short. I think their mouths are made purely for killing. I always felt the scene of it eating, in Alien 3, was a huge mistake. Killing out of a need to eat might make it seem too sympathetic, I like the idea that it has nothing to do with hunger, just the inability to tolerate other species.
